This significant healthcare construction project saw Warden deliver a two-storey, new-build medical centre in the heart of Little Hulton, Salford, which combined four existing GP practices into a larger modern building.
The new 1,750 sqm centre brought together podiatry, speech therapy, diabetic clinics along with stop smoking and mental health services in a state-of-the-art centre to serve around 13,000 patients.
Construction took the form of steel frame, an internal SFS system with brickwork and render to the external envelope and a single ply membrane roof covering. The works included car parking, new entrance, new boundary, and external landscaping. The building features a two-storey aluminium-clad entrance highlighted by striking green cladding, which contrasts the remaining grey and white brickwork and white concrete render elements.
The 40-week project was completed on time and within budget. Warden engaged a design team to develop a solution that satisfied both local planners and the client’s requirements. This integrated health centre was designed to a BREEAM Excellent rating.
Warden worked closely with the client’s design team, Blue Sky Design Services Limited, with involvement from inception to completion, allowing us to heavily influence the design process and meet the initial target cost. The project was completed with minimal disruption to neighbouring properties and businesses in a complex, urban environment.
