The works, funded with Capital Kickstart grant funding, consisted of the refurbishment of existing floor areas to create new entrance accommodation within the four-storey, Grade II Listed building.

It was part of Manchester Museum’s wider transformational capital development plans, dedicated to establishing the UK’s most inclusive, imaginative and caring museum.

The bespoke refurbishment and fit-out project included the manufacture and installation of high-class joinery products. It combined an ambitious, two-story new extension, with extensive redevelopment of existing areas which resulted in a new entrance and improved visitor facilities with a focus on inclusive, age-friendly and accessible design. The scheme linked to a new Exhibition Hall dedicated to major temporary exhibitions and extraordinary projects with a flagship new South Asia Gallery.

We worked collaboratively with third party designers to meet the requirements of both this and various other future projects within the museum building. The programme period from inception to completion also complemented completion of other areas of build within the wider scheme along with tight deadlines imposed by the central government ‘Kickstart’ funding scheme.
