The opportunity
The role of a construction estimator is an important one within the preconstruction team at Warden. As an estimator you will develop construction estimates and bid information to support the company in pursuit of new business.
You will work closely with others at our head office within our preconstruction and business development teams to ensure the company delivers competitive and high quality responses for both single stage and two stage tender submissions.

Your responsibilities
As an estimator, you’ll be responsible for producing estimates from BQ’s and Drawings & Specifications, under both traditional and design & build contracts. Working for a diverse client base and frameworks you will be involved in contract values range from £50k – £15m. Building strong relationships and working client facing within collaborative public framework environments in which we operate is essential.
- Appraisal and evaluation of client tender requirements and specifications in bid preparation
- Abstract and report on contractual tender stage information
- Manage tender information efficiently
- Undertaking tender site visits
- Develop subcontract trade package enquiries
- Take off and produce tender stage bills of quantities
- Pricing of tender labour, plant and material rates build ups
- Analysing supply chain enquiries for tender
- Producing tender risk information
- Reporting for tender adjudication
- Communication and handover of estimates
- Early engagement with client teams to provide cost advice
- Providing early stage project cost plans
- Managing client preconstruction phase programme expectations
- Delivering value engineering optioneering
- Managing and reporting tender stage cost controls
- Working within a client collaborative team environment
Ideal Candidate
- Excels in working as part of a team and under own supervision
- Strong time management/ prioritisation skills
- Ability to self motivate and work to deadlines
- Works well under pressure
- Competence in computerised estimating and take-off software and general IT skills
- Industry recognised construction related qualifications.
- Previous experience within a similar role
- Drive and enthusiasm to succeed and improve
